Turnip Free Crochet Pattern

Hello amigurumi lovers and beautiful visitors, I wanted to share the free amigurumi patterns for you here. In my article I will share 1 pattern and how to make it for you. At the end of my article, I will share amigurumi patterns that can generate ideas for you.

SKILL LEVEL: Beginner

YARN: Medium Weight Cotton Yarn (Lace 4) in White, Purple, Green, Brown and Black

OTHER MATERIALS: Polyester Fiber Filling; Two 9mm Black Plastic Safety Eyes

HOOK SIZES: E/3,50 mm

DIMENSIONS: 6″ x 5″

STITCHES USED and ABBREVIATIONS: magic ring (mr), chain (ch), slip stitch (sl st), single crochet (sc), half double crochet (hdc), decrease (dec), increase (inc), fasten off (F/O).

INSTRUCTIONS: work in rows (join with a sl st and ch1 at the end of each row) unless otherwise instructed.

LEGS AND BODY (white, brown and purple)

Make two:

1) 8 sc in a mr (8)

2) sc inc around (16)

3) sc even (16)

4) *7 sc, 1 sc inc*, repeat ** twice (18)

5) sc even (18); F/O, hide the yarn and stuff the leg

Do no cut the yarn once you have completed the 2nd leg, CH 3 INSTEAD.

Merge the two legs together:

6) join the yarn with a sl st to the 1st leg, ch1 and sc in the same st, crochet around 17 sc, 1 hdc in each of the 3 stitches between the two legs, keep working on the 2nd leg , 18 sc, 1 hdc in each of the 3 stitches between the two legs (42)

7) *6 sc, 1 sc inc*, repeat ** around (48)

8) 7 sc, 1 sc inc, switch to brown yarn, 7 sc, 1 sc inc, switch back to white yarn, 7 sc, 1 sc inc, 7 sc, switch to brown yarn, 1 sc sc inc, 7 sc, 1 inc, switch back to white yarn, 7 sc, 1 sc inc (54)

9) sc even with white yarn (54)

10) switch to brown yarn, 4 sc, switch back to white yarn, 17 sc, switch to brown yarn, 9 sc, switch back to white yarn, 19 sc, switch to brown yarn, 5 sc (54)

11) switch to white yarn, sc even (54)

12) 6 sc, switch to brown yarn, 10 sc, switch to white yarn, 17 sc, switch to brown yarn, 8 sc, switch back to white yarn, 13 sc (54)

13) sc even with white yarn (54)

14) switch to purple yarn, sc even (54)

15-22) sc even (54); start stuffing the turnip

23) *7 sc, 1 sc dec*, repeat ** around (48)

24) *6 sc, 1 sc dec*, repeat ** around (42)

25) *5 sc, 1 sc dec*, repeat ** around (36)

26-27) sc even (36); insert the safety eyes between rounds 21/22, 12 stitches apart

28) *4 sc, 1 sc dec*, repeat ** around (30)

29) *3 sc, 1 sc dec*, repeat ** around (24)

30) *1 sc, 1 sc dec*, repeat ** around (16); finish stuffing the turnip

31) dec around (8); F/O and close the hole.

Embroider the MOUTH with some black yarn.

ARMS (purple yarn; make two)

1) 8 sc in a mr (8)

2) sc inc around (16)

3-5) sc even (16); F/O and leave a long tail of yarn to sew the arm to the side of the body.

Stuff the arm firmly.

STEM (green yarn)

Small leaf:

1) 6 sc in a mr (6)

2) *2 sc, 1 sc inc*, repeat ** (8)

3) sc even (8)

4)*3 sc, 1 sc inc*, repeat ** (10)

5-6) sc even (10)

7) *3 sc, 1 sc dec*, repeat ** (8)

8) *2 sc, 1 sc dec*, repeat ** (6)

9) sc even (6)

10) 4 sc, 1 sc dec (5); F/O and cut the yarn

Big leaf:

1) 8 sc in a mr (8)

2) *3 sc, 1 sc inc*, repeat ** (10)

3) sc even (10)

4) *4 sc, 1 sc inc*, repeat ** (12)

5-7) sc even (12)

8) *4 sc, 1 sc dec*, repeat ** (10)

9) *3 sc, 1 sc dec*, repeat ** (8)

10) *2 sc, 1 sc dec*, repeat ** (6)

11) 4 sc, 1 sc dec (5)

12-13) sc even (5)

Do no cut the yarn once you have completed the big leaf:

Merge the two leaves together:

1) join the yarn with a sl st to the small leaf, ch1 and sc in the same st, crochet around 4 sc, keep working on the big leaf, crochet 5 sc (10)

2) sc inc around (20); F/O and leave a long tail of yarn to sew the stem to the top of the head.

Stuff the bottom part of the stem before attaching it.
