Crab Free Crochet Pattern

Hello amigurumi lovers and beautiful visitors, I wanted to share the free amigurumi patterns for you here. In my article I will share 1 pattern and how to make it for you. At the end of my article, I will share amigurumi patterns that can generate ideas for you.

SKILL LEVEL: Beginner

YARN: Medium Weight Yarn (4) in Red, Yellow and Black

OTHER MATERIALS: Polyester Fiber Filling; 6 mm Plastic Safety Eyes (2); White Felt

HOOK SIZES: 3.25 mm

STITCHES USED and ABBREVIATIONS: magic ring (mr), chain (ch), slip stitch (sl st), single crochet (sc), back loop only (BLO), decrease (dec), increase (inc), fasten off (F/O), round (rnd).

FINISHED SIZE: 4”x7”

INSTRUCTIONS: work in rounds (join with a sl st and ch1 at the end of each row) unless otherwise instructed

BODY (red and yellow yarn)

1) starting off with red yarn, 11 ch, 1 sc inc in the 2nd ch from the hook, 8 sc, 2 sc inc in the last st, keep working on the opposite side of the foundation chain, 8 sc, 1 sc inc in the last st that already contains 2 sc (24)

2) 2 sc inc, 8 sc, 4 sc inc, 8 sc, 2 sc inc (32)

3) 2 sc inc, 12 sc, 4 sc inc, 12 sc, 2 sc inc (40)

4) 1 sc inc, 18 sc, 2 sc inc, 18 sc, 1 sc inc (44)

5-6) sc even (44)

7) 1 sc inc, 20 sc, 2 sc inc, 20 sc, 1 sc inc (48)

8-15) sc even (48)

Cut two 6/8” rounded pieces of white felt, create a hole in them white the scissors, insert the plastic safety eyes in the hole and the place them between rounds #8-9, 3 stitches apart. Secure the eyes with the back parts.

16) *1 sc with red yarn, 1 sc with yellow yarn*, repeat ** around (48)

17) sc even with red yarn (48)

18) *1 sc with yellow yarn, 1 sc with red yarn*, repeat ** around (48)

19) sc even with red yarn (48)

20) *1 sc with red yarn, 1 sc with yellow yarn*, repeat ** around (48)

21) sc even with red yarn (48)

22) *1 sc with yellow yarn, 1 sc with red yarn*, repeat ** around (48)

23) sc even with red yarn (48); start stuffing the body

24) working in BLO, *6 sc, 1 sc dec*, repeat ** around (42) 25) working in both loops now, *5 sc, 1 sc dec*, repeat ** around (36)

26) *4 sc, 1 sc dec*, repeat ** around (30)

27) *3 sc, 1 sc dec*, repeat ** around (24)

28) *2 sc, 1 sc dec*, repeat ** around (18); finish stuffing the body firmly

29) *1 sc, 1 sc dec*, repeat ** around (12)

30) sc dec around (6); F/O, cut and hide the yarn.

Embroider the v-shaped MOUTH with a scrap piece of black yarn between rnds # 11-14

LONG LEGS (red yarn; make two)

1) 8 sc in a mr (8)

2-9) sc even (8); F/O and leave a long tail of yarn for sewing the legs between rnds #23-24 of the body. Stuff the legs before attaching it.

SHORT LEGS (red yarn; make two)

1) 8 sc in a mr (8)

2-7) sc even (8); F/O and leave a long tail of yarn for sewing the legs between rounds #23-24 of the body. Stuff the legs before attaching it.

CLAWS (red yarn; make two)

Small Claw:

1) 4 sc in a mr (4)

2) *1 sc, 1 sc inc*, repeat ** twice (6)

3) *2 sc, 1 sc inc*, repeat ** twice (8); stuff the claw

4) sc even (8); F/O and hide the yarn.

Big Claw:

1) 4 sc in a mr (4)

2) *1 sc, 1 sc inc*, repeat ** twice (6)

3) *2 sc, 1 sc inc*, repeat ** twice (8)

4) sc even (8)

5) *3 sc, 1 sc inc*, repeat ** twice (10)

6) sc even (10); stuff the claw

Do not cut the yarn once you have completed the Big Claw.

Merge the two claws together:

7) join the yarn with a sl st to the small claw, ch 1 and sc in the same st, 7 sc, keep crocheting on the big claw, 10 sc (18)

8) *1 sc, 1 sc dec*, repeat ** around (12)

9) *1 sc, 1 sc dec*, repeat ** around (8); finish stuffing

10-11) sc even (8); F/O and leave a long tail of yarn to sew the claw to the side of the body between rnds # 11-15.
