<p>You will need:</p>



<ul><li>YarnArt Jeans yarn (55% cotton, 45% acrylic)</li><li>2.0-2.5 mm crochet hook</li><li>8 mm safety eyes</li><li>Orange embroidery floss or yarn for beak</li><li>Pink dry pastel crayon for cheeks and ears</li><li>Sewing needle and scissors</li><li>Fiberfill</li></ul>



<p>Abbreviations:<br>R – row<br>ch – chain<br>sl st – slip stitch<br>sc – single crochet<br>inc – increase (2 sc in one stitch)<br>dec – decrease (2 sc together)<br>dc – double crochet<br>hdc – half double crochet<br>[…] – number of stitches you should have at the end of the row<br>(…) – repeat whatever is between the brackets the given number of times</p>



<p><strong>Head-body</strong><br>With yellow yarn:<br>R 1: 6 sc in magic ring [6]<br>R 2: (inc) repeat 6 times [12]<br>R 3: (1 sc, inc) repeat 6 times [18]<br>R 4: (2 sc, inc) repeat 6 times [24]<br>R 5: (3 sc, inc) repeat 6 times [30]<br>R 6: (1 sc, inc, 3 sc) repeat 6 times [36]<br>R 7-19: 36 sc (13 rows)<br>R 20: (4 sc, dec) repeat 6 times [30]<br>R 21: (1 sc, dec, 2 sc) repeat 6 times [24]<br>Insert safety eyes between R 14 and R 15 at the distance of 6 sc from each other.<br>R 22: (2 sc, dec) repeat 6 times [18]<br>R 23: (1 sc, dec) repeat 6 times [12]<br>R 24: (dec) repeat 6 times [6]<br>Fasten off.</p>

<p><strong>Assembly</strong><br>Embroider a nose with orange yarn.<br>Sew wings to the body.<br>Sew ears on the head.<br>Sew egg shell to the body.<br>Tint ears and cheeks using dry pastel crayon.</p>

<p><strong>Indentation– Eyes:</strong><br>Make indentations by the eyes with cotton yarn in the following way:</p>

<p><strong>Chick without the shell:</strong><br>Now insert the legs. Pull one end of the chain row out in round 8, and the other with 9-10 stitches space in between. Place the beads on and tie a knot at each end of the string.</p>



<p><strong>Chick with the shell:</strong><br>Put the chick in the shell. Pull one end of the chain row out through both the chick and the eggshell and the other end out with 9-10 stitches in between. Place beads on and tie a knot at each end.</p>



<p><strong>Tail feather:</strong><br>With yellow yarn on the chick without the shell.<br>Insert the yarn on the back of the body on round 10. Ch8, 1 sc where you inserted the yarn. Ch10, 1 sc where you inserted the yarn. Ch8, 1 sc where the yarn was inserted. Cut the yarn and weave in the ends.</p>



<p>Wings:<br>With yellow – Make 2.<br>1. Make a mr and work 6 sc into the ring. (6)<br>2. 2 sc in every st of the round. (12)<br>3. “1 sc in the first st, 2 sc in the next st”. Repeat “ to ” until the end of the round. (18)<br>4. – 6. 1 sc in every st of the round. (18)<br>7. “1 sc in the first st, 2 sc in the next st”. Repeat “ to ” 4 times in total. “1 sc in the next st, 2 sc tog”. Repeat “ to ” 3 times in total. 1 sc in the last st. (19)<br>8. 1 sc in every st of the round. (19)<br>9. 1 sc in the first 5 st. 2 sc in the next 6 st. 1 sc in the next 5 st. Work the last 3 st tog. (23)<br>10.-13. 1 sc in every st of the round. (23)<br>14. Fold the wing together and crochet both sides together with sc. Cut the yarn and weave in the ends.<br>Sew the wings onto the chick.</p>
