Giraffe Amigurumi Free Pattern
Hello amigurumi lovers and beautiful visitors, I wanted to share the free amigurumi patterns for you here. In my article I will share 1 pattern and how to make it for you. At the end of my article, I will share amigurumi patterns that can generate ideas for you.
Skill level: Beginner
Height: 27 cm
Crochet hook: 2,5 mm
Materials: Embroidery needle & black yarn, 2 safety eyes (8 mm), toy stuffing.
Yarn: Rainbow Cotton 8/4
How much yarn do you need?
1 x Rainbow Cotton 8/4 – Ochre Yellow (082)
1 x Rainbow Cotton 8/4 – Sunny yellow (055)

MR = magic ring
sc = single crochet
sl st = slip stitch
dc = double crochet
Inc 1 st = work 2 stitches in same stitch
Dec 1 st = work 2 stitches together
[…] = number of stitches
(…) = number of rounds
Head
With Yellow (17435)
R1: 6 sc in MR [6],
R2: inc 1 st 6 times [12],
R3: 1 sc, inc 1 st 6 times [18],
R4: 2 sc, inc 1 st 6 times [24],
R5: 3 sc, inc 1 st 6 times [30],
R6-11: 1 sc in each stitch (6 rounds) [30],
R12: 12 sc, inc 1 st 6 times, 12 sc [36],
R13: 5 sc, inc 1 st 6 times [42],
R14: 6 sc, inc 1 st 6 times [48],
R15-19: 1 sc in each stitch (5 rounds) [48],
Attach the eyes between R12 and R13, on both sides of the increased stitches on R12.
R20: 6 sc, dec 1 st 6 times [42],
R21: 5 sc, dec 1 st 6 times [36],
R22: 4 sc, dec 1 st 6 times [30],
Stuff the head continuously as you go.
R23: 3 sc, dec 1 st 6 times [24]
R24: 2 sc, dec 1 st 6 times [18]
R25: 1 sc, dec 1 st 6 times [12]
R26: dec 1 st 6 times [6]
Cut the yarn and pull through front loops of the 6 sc on R26. Tighten and fasten off.
Ears
Make 2 with Sunny yellow (055).
R1: work 6 sc in MR [6],
R2: work 1 sc in each stitch [6],
R3: 1 sc, inc 1 st 3 times [9],
R4: 2 sc, inc 1 st 3 times [12],
R5: 3 sc, inc 1 st 3 times [15],
R6: 4 sc, inc 1 st 6 times [18],
R7-10: 1 sc in each stitch (4 rounds) [18]
R11: dec 1 st 9 times [9]
R12: 1 sc in each stitch [9]
Bind off but leave a long end to sew the ears on the head on R19 and 13 sc in between.
Horns
Make 2 with Sunny yellow (055).
R1: 6 sc in MR [6]
R2: inc 1 st 6 times [12]
R3: 1 sc, inc 1 st 6 times [18]
R4: 1 sc, dec 1 st 6 times [12]
Stuff the horn a little, and continue stuffing as you go.
R5: dec 1 st 6 times [6]
R6-8: 1 sc in each stitch (3 rounds) [6]
Bind off but leave a long end to sew the horns on the head between R18 and R19 and 3 sc
in between. Embroider the nostrils on the snout between R4 and R5 with a couple of stitches
and 2 sc in between. Embroider the mouth with black. See picture below.
Body
With Yellow (17435).
R1: work 6 sc in MR [6],
R2: inc 1 st 6 times [12],
R3: 1 sc, inc 1 st 6 times [18],
R4: 2 sc, inc 1 st 6 times [24],
R5: 3 sc, inc 1 st 6 times [30],
R6: 4 sc, inc 1 st 6 times [36],
R7: 5 sc, inc 1 st 6 times [42],
R8-12: work 1 sc in each stitch (5 rounds) [42],
R13: 5 sc, dec 1 st 6 times [36],
R14-15: work 1 sc in each stitch (2 rounds) [36],
R16: 4 sc, dec 1 st 6 times [30],
R17: work 1 sc in each stitch [30],
Stoff the body continuously as you go.
R18: 3 sc, dec 1 st 6 times [24],
R19: work 1 sc in each stitch [24],
R20: 2 sc, dec 1 st 6 times [18],
R21-32: work 1 sc in each stitch (12 rounds) [18]
Stuff the neck thoroughly to make sure it doesn’t get flaccid. Place the head on the neck
between R14 and R20 and sew it on.
Arms
Make 2 with Yellow (17435).
R1: 6 sc in MR [6]
R2: inc 1 st 6 times [12]
R3: 1 sc, inc 1 st 6 times [18]
R4-7: 1 sc in each stitch (4 rounds) [18]
Stuff the hand, but not the arm.
R8: 1 sc, dec 1 st 6 times [12]
R9-20: 1 sc in each stitch (12 rounds) [12]
Fold the arm flat and work 6 sc through both sides of the arm.
Sew the arms on each side of the body on round R20.
Legs
Make 2 with Yellow (17435).
R1: 6 sc in MR [6]
R2: inc 1 st 6 times [12]
R3: *1 sc, inc 1 st 6 times [18]
R4: *2 sc, inc 1 st* 6 times [24]
R5-8: 1 sc in each stitch (4 rounds) [24]
R9: 5 sc, dec 1 st 7x, 5 sc [17]
R10: 4 sc, dec 1 st 4x, 5 sc [13]
R11: 6 sc, dec 1 st, 5 sc [12]
R12-31: 1 sc in each stitch (20 rounds) [12]
Stuff the leg, fold it flat and work 6 sc through both sides of the leg. Sew the legs on the bottom of the body, on both sides of the MR.
Tail
Cut three threads of similar length and braid a little tail. Make the ends a bit frayed, like a
brush. Sew the tail on the backside of the body on R8.
Spots
Make 5 with Sunny yellow (055)
R1: 6 sc in MR [6]
R2: *1 sc, 1 dc and 1 sc in next stitch * 3 times [9]
Bind off and sew the spots on the giraffe.
