Amigurumi Elephant Free Pattern

Skill level: Beginner
Crochet hook: 2.50 mm
Measurements: From top to toe approx.
34 cm
Materials: A piece of black scrap yarn for the eyes, fiberfill
Yarn: Rainbow Cotton 8/4
Grey (#015) – 2 skeins
Candyfloss (#093) – 1 skein

inc = increase – 2 stitches in the same

Info and tips:
Always stuff the head and body firmly.
Always stuff between head and body as you sew the head on to avoid a wobbly head.
Work tightly to avoid holes between the stitches.
All pieces are crocheted in the round, apart from the bow.

Skirt

Rnd 1: chain the number of stitches required to make it fit around the belly of the elephant. In
this case we chained 80.
Rnd 2: (1 sc, inc) repeat to the end of the round
Rnds 3-6: 1 hdc in each st
Rnd 7: 1 sc in each st
Rnd 8: Now we are going to crochet the spikes: ([1 sc, ch 2, 1 sc] in the same st, skip 1
stitch) Repeat to the end of the round.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Bow
In Candyfloss
Now, ch 1 to turn the work after each ended row
Rnd 1: Ch 25
Rnd 2: Beginning in the 2nd chain from the hook, work 1 sc, ch 1, turn
Rnds 3-8: 1 sc in each st, ch 1, turn
Fold the bow and sl st the ends together. Weave in ends.
Place the crocheted seam in the center and wrap some yarn tightly around approx. 10 to 12
times to form a bow.
Assembling
· Fold the trunk down towards the head and sew it in place invisibly.
· Embroider eyes and lashes on rounds 35-37 with 5 sc between the eyes.
· Sew the bow on right above one of the eyes.
· Sew the ears on on round 10 counted from the top of the head with approx. 9 sc in
between.
· The skirt is put on without sewing but you can sew it on if you like.
· Sew the legs on on round 5 counted from the bottom.
· Sew the arms on on round 5 counted from the neck.
